QWERTY
The global default — English, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, and most others type on this layout.
AZERTY
Used across France and Belgium — key positions for A, Z, Q, and W are swapped from QWERTY.
QWERTZ
Standard across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland — Y and Z are swapped from QWERTY.
Cyrillic
Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, and Serbian — full character-mapping for the Cyrillic alphabet.
Indic scripts
Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Gujarati — typed in native script, not transliteration.
CJK
Japanese, Korean, and Chinese — input-method aware, so romanized typing speed counts correctly.
Your WPM in English doesn't tell the whole story
Typing speed isn't one universal number — it changes with script complexity, accent marks, and how often your fingers leave the home row. A 70 WPM English typist might land closer to 45 WPM in French because of accented characters, or test completely differently in Hindi, where the script itself works on different muscle-memory patterns.
Testing in your actual working language gives you a number you can trust — for resumes, job applications, or just knowing where you stand.

Language & layout questions
Does TypingFix auto-detect my keyboard layout?
No — you select your language and layout before starting, since the same language can sometimes be typed on more than one physical layout (e.g. Canadian vs. French AZERTY).
Can I compare my WPM across two different languages?
Yes — your test history tracks WPM per language separately, so you can see exactly how your speed differs between, say, English and Hindi.
Are CJK languages (Japanese, Korean, Chinese) measured in WPM too?
We measure romanized input speed for CJK languages, since native character-per-minute isn't directly comparable to alphabet-based WPM.
